Prefer the VPN method myself… seems as though the servers are faster and better for streaming.

Yes – I found the VPN much more effective speedwise. It was also a lot easier to setup/configure.

I think the proxy is faster if you can set it up right, but most cheap hosting services will give you space on a crammed sever that is on a slow line and might give you a few GB of traffic each month. The betters will cost $25+ a month … and you still only have access to a single country.

Most VPN providers will give you access to UK and USA at the same time from $4-$10 a month.

I use http://usaip.eu ($5/mo) simply because I need NL TV as well as UK and USA … and I need to look up a few things in China – and some of the content is only accessible from Chinese locations, which they have.

I ended up going the VPN route with VPN Authority as well. Seems to be pretty good so far… i signed up for one month and just extended it out to 1-year
